After waking in the Janissary Battalion encampment the Squad prepared to depart in their newly acquired Chimera APC. Just before leaving the Squad thinks to enlist the help of Lorak Son of Kulth as a local guide and interpreter. Trooper Goldbar is again sent as the emissary and through charismatic voodoo, similarities in background, or perhaps just the fates determined by a random chance was able to arrange to not only enlist the services of Lorak but to enlist his exceptionally enthusiastic assistance. Soon after The Chimera unceremoniously departs the stoic encampment as the Jannissaries prepare to march to the Front.
48 Hours later the Squad finds itself near the front lines and about to enter enemy controlled lands. Due to this the take a needed rest and decide to proceed under the cover of darkness. Two uneventful days after departing the front lines the Team finds themselves approaching a forested area in the foothills of their mountain destination. The team enters the Tree line and beds down for the day. Some hours later Trooper Faroom spots an enemy infantry patrol moving along the tree line. They know that the enemy patrol will eventually come across the path that their Chimera made in the vegetation as they entered the tree line so they prepare an ambush in preparation of the foot patrol pursuing them. After time comes and goes with no indication of continued enemy presence Trooper Figgus the Ratling Sniper is sent to investigate. Trooper Figgus returns shortly after having observed tracks that indicate the enemy showed only passing interest in the tracks left by their Chimera. To be safe the squad decides to wait a few hours to ensure that no enemy is likely to hear the sound of their vehicle’s engine and then they proceed north.
Fearing additional enemy patrols the team moves in a series of leap frog maneuvers ensuring a safe but very slow rate of movement. After half a day of such travel the men decide that speed is security and increase their rate of movement. The following day the Squad rolls across what they believe to be the track marks of a Chimera. They suspect that this Chimera is one of the Friendly Vehicles that had preceded them on this mission. Lorak Son of Kulth and Trooper Faroom proceed in up the newly discovered track path while the remaining members wait with the Chimera and pull security. Lorak and Goldbar find themselves emerging from the forest into mile and miles of new growth trees. It appears that sometime in recent history that a forest fire had levelled much of the vegetation and this area has only had a couple of years of new growth. After proceeding up the trail the players discover the wreckage of a friendly Chimera. Some of the bodies of the Slain patrol seem to be missing and many of those remaining are missing their ID tags. The Chimera itself was ripped in half by an unknown weapon and split in half along its short axis with the rear half leaning over at a precarious angle. Upon cursory investigation Lorak and Goldbar discover an Ogryn survivor trapped under the wreckage of the rear half of the Armored Vehicle. Once they help extricate the Ogryn they find that he had wrapped himself protectively around the body of a Carapace Armor clad trooper. Both were alive but in bad shape. The team arrives and is introduced to Trooper Arn Bigshootakilla and Sergeant Augustus Doyle “Gus”. Sergeant Doyle informed the teams that the patrol had been ambushed by an unknown foe but that prior to the attack they had discovered the location of the supply route that was supporting the Generals Garrison. With this new information the Squad finally has a lead to track down their prey. They head north and only by the sheer skill and dumb luck of Trooper Faroom are they able to avoid the destructive force another of the infamous planetary electrical storms.
The squad arrives at the supply route and lays in place their ambush. They are forced to wait a torturous 9 days before the convoy arrives and when it does Hell and Fury are unleashed. Through the leadership and planning of Sergeant Doyle and Corporal Tok they are able to establish not only an effective ambush but Trooper Faroom is able to nearly disable the rear vehicle with a Krak grenade in the initial volley of fire. Though not destroyed the truck is heavily damaged; for a half second before the Krak Missile fired by Corporal Tok impacts the cab and tears the truck apart in a flaming geyser as the cab itself flies through the air landing some 12 meters on the opposite side fo the road and the men and materials that were contained in the rear of the truck are shot out of the back as if from cannon. With the Chimera blocking the path the remaining Severan Dominate troops stagger out of the rear of the remaining vehicle dazed and shocked by the vicious attack. Sergeant Doyle, Corporal Volkgeir, and Trooper Faroom assault forward to subdue the Dominate troops as Psyker Hessman shouts for them to surrender. The Dominate forces are taken prisoner and escorted along with the remaining functional truck to a rally point 2 kilometers away.
Once they arrive the ask Trooper Bigshootakilla to politely request of the prisoners to divulge any information that they may have about the General’s whereabouts. The prisoners are only too happy to speak their minds to avoid the pummelling they expect to receive if they do not from the Massive Smelly humanoid. With the information gathered the team begins planning. Psyker Hessman appears to be pensive as Corporal Tok and Sergeant Doyle engage in vigorous debate about the fate of the prisoners and the best method to move forward.
